Alabama head coach Nick Saban confirmed this evening that two of the Crimson Tide's top defensive players won't play in the Citrus Bowl against Michigan.

Standout pass rusher Terrell Lewis and All-American defensive back Trevon Diggs will not suit up for the Crimson Tide against the Wolverines

Lewis and Diggs were not at Alabama practice today. Both players are considered top NFL Draft prospects.

“We certainly respect and understand their decision," Saban said.

Lewis has dealt with some injuries during his Alabama career, while Diggs is coming off a great season and rightfully is thinking about his NFL future. Alabama wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, meanwhile, confirmed that he's playing. Jeudy is arguably the top WR in the draft class.

Alabama and Michigan are set to kick off at 1 p.m. E.T. on New Year's Day.

The game will be on ABC.
