North Texas AD Threatens Cease And Desist After ESPN Calls Michigan State 'Mean Green' In Promo

ESPN is referring to Michigan State as the "mean green" in a promo for Saturday's game vs. Michigan and North Texas's athletic director isn't happy.

In promos for Saturday night's rivalry game, ESPN is using the rhyme of "Wolverine vs. Mean Green."

Of course, there is an actual FBS football team called the Mean Green: the University of North Texas.

An SB Nation writer made a joke about ESPN promo on Twitter, and caught the attention of UNT AD Wren Baker, who says he will be sending a cease and desist letter in response to the ad.

ESPN runs these prime time game promos all the time during the lead-up to Saturday night, so it'll be interesting to see if it actually changed this one in response to Baker's letter.

Michigan and Michigan State kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET at The Big House. The 3-2 North Texas Mean Green will not be there. Seth Littrell's team is on bye until October 14, when it hosts undefeated UTSA.
