Northwestern will take on Notre Dame football in 2018 at home for the first time in 42 years.

The Northwestern Wildcats will take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in Evanston during the 2018 season on November 3.

As college football analyst Barrett Sallee noted, it will be the first time Northwestern has hosted Notre Dame football in Evanston in 42 years.

The Wildcats played Notre Dame at Chicago's Soldier Field in 1992 and 1994.

Surprisingly, the Wildcats have won the last two meetings between the two teams, with Northwestern winning 43-40 during the last matchup at Notre Dame Stadium in 2014.

Before that game, the last time to two squads have faced off was in 1995, when the Wildcats upset the Fighting Irish in South Bend, 17-15.

Notre Dame leads the rivalry all time, with 37 wins compared to Northwestern's nine.

Notre Dame struggled last year with a 4-8 season; Northwestern went 7-6 and won the Pinstripe Bowl.
