Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick is interested in playing more SEC teams in the future.
According to Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick, the Fighting Irish would "love" to play Alabama.
In an interview with Laken Litman of the Indy Star, Swarbrick talked about everything from last season's 4-8 record, to head coach Brian Kelly and yes, potentially scheduling some matchups with Alabama and Auburn down the line.
Here's what Swarbrick had to say when asked if he'd ever try to schedule Alabama:
Alabama is one of those opponents we would love to play. I hope we do get that done. It was interesting to see the list of teams we’ve never played (from the SEC, which include Mississippi State, Auburn and Kentucky). I frankly didn’t know it. I have a great relationship with the Auburn athletic director (Jay Jacobs), and I’d love to figure out how to do that. There’s something to be said for ticking off everyone on that list until you can say you’ve done it over the history of this program.
Notre Dame taking on the SEC appears to be on the horizon, and that's definitely a good thing for football fans. Hopefully Alabama shows mutual interest in setting up a regular season contest.
