Mike Elko will reportedly coach for a new team next year.

Texas A&M reportedly made a serious run at LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda late Wednesday night, but the Tigers secured Aranda with a new contract that will pay him $2.5 million per year.

After failing to poach Aranda from LSU, the Aggies reloaded in their efforts.

According to Billy Liucci of TexAgs.com, A&M has hired Notre Dame DC Mike Elko.

Elko turned Wake Forest into a top 20 defense in touchdowns scored, turnovers, red zone defense, sacks, and scoring defense in 2016, his third and final season with the team. He took over for the fired Brian VanGorder as Notre Dame's defensive coordinator for the 2017 season.

Jimbo Fisher landed a top assistant.
