Notre Dame vs. Stanford preview:

The Cardinal started off the season with three straight wins. However, it has lost its last two games to sit at 3-2 on the season. With a trip to Notre Dame next up on the schedule, Stanford needs a win to turn around their season before it's too late. The Cardinal have been embarrassed in its last two games, with blowout losses to Washington (44-6) and Washington State (42-16).

Notre Dame hasn't fared much better this season. Actually, it has been worse. The Fighting Irish sit a 2-4 after opening the season as the No. 10 team in the country according to the AP Poll. Notre Dame has not beat a quality opponent yet this season, with its two wins coming over Nevada and Syracuse. The Fighting Irish need a win here as they still have three more ranked teams to play this season.

Notre Dame and Stanford have played 30 times in history, with the Fighting Irish holding a 19-11 advantage.

Notre Dame vs. Stanford prediction:

This is the first time neither team enters this matchup ranked inside the AP Top 25 since 2009. Despite having a worse record, Notre Dame enters this matchup as the favorite. Playing at home is a big advantage for the Fighting Irish who have won the last two games played at Notre Dame Stadium between these two teams.

Look for Notre Dame quarterback DeShone Kizer to dominate this game en route to a close decision.
