Notre Dame will be without Chase Claypool.

When the Fighting Irish take on LSU in the Citrus Bowl on New Year's Day, they'll have to do so without one of their top pass catchers.

Sophomore wide receiver Chase Claypool suffered a shoulder injury in practice on Tuesday when he went up for a ball during a one-on-one drill and landed awkwardly. Claypool will undergo surgery this week, and will not be healthy enough to play in the bowl game.

It's a huge loss for the Irish, as Claypool is the second-leading target behind Equanimeous St. Brown with 29 catches for 402 yards and two touchdowns. During Notre Dame's 48-37 win over Wake Forest Claypool showed what he's capable of with nine receptions for 180 yards and a touchdown.

The former four-star wide receiver, should be ready for spring ball.
