Notre Dame WR Corey Holmes Is Transferring To Purdue
The former Fighting Irish wideout is headed to the Big Ten.
Purdue has landed a commitment from a former Notre Dame wide receiver.
Corey Holmes, a former Fighting Irish wideout, is now a Boilermaker.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound wide receiver is a graduate transfer and will be immediately eligible for Purdue this upcoming season. The wideout had announced in December that he was going to be leaving the Notre Dame program as a graduate transfer with one year left to play.
Holmes announced his commitment on Twitter.
Holmes, a Philadelphia native, played sparingly for the Fighting Irish during 2016. He caught 11 passes for 96 yards. Holmes' best game came at the end of the season, when he caught four passes for 29 yards in a loss to USC.
The wide receiver is a former four-star recruit in the 2014 class out of St. Thomas Aquinas in Florida. He was ranked the No. 27 wide receiver in the class by 247Sports' Composite Rankings and chose Notre Dame over Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Michigan and Oklahoma, among other programs.
Purdue went 3-9 last season and won just one Big Ten game.
The Boilermakers are set to open their 2017 season on Saturday, Sept. 2 against Louisville.
