Ohio State Fans Facing Major Travel Issues Getting To Cotton Bowl
If you're an Ohio State football fan planning on flying out to Dallas for the Cotton Bowl Classic between the Buckeyes and Texas Longhorns in the next 24 hours you may have a devil of a time getting there now.
Longhorns insider Anwar Richardson has been looking at the flights into the Dallas Fort-Worth International Airport and it's safe to say that residents of the state of Ohio are really going to be struggling over the next few hours as a major cold spell is descending on the area.
In a series of screenshots shared on X, at least nine flights from Columbus, Dayton, Cleveland and Cincinnati have been canceled while three more flights are delayed. And those are the only flights scheduled to come in on Thursday.
"Ohio State fans who didn't fly out on Wednesday are likely seeing their travel plans disrupted by bad weather in Dallas on Thursday," Richardson wrote.
But as some users on social media are noting, even the visitors that have managed to touch down at DFW have had a tough time getting around. The weather and ensuing traffic issues have caused major problems for people simply trying to get to their hotels.
"I can report that friends made it to Dallas this morning from Denver and Raleigh. Rough cab ride to the hotel, though," one user wrote in response to Richardson.
"Stuck at DFW airport. Its bad out here," wrote another.
WFAA reported that over 450 arriving flights have been canceled while another 90 have experienced delays throughout the day.
The DFW Airport official account on X has been giving updates throughout the day and explaining why it's been tough to ensure that flights continue to get in promptly.
"DFW airport is, well, big. We will be treating 7 runways, 75M sq feet of airfield surface, 1,288 lane miles of roads & 133 bridges using 875 tons of sand, 169,000 gallons of liquid deicer and more than 1,000 tons of other roadway materials with 100 pieces of heavy equipment," the airport posted a few hours ago.
Will the weather prevent the Cotton Bowl Classic game from being filled to capacity?
