Ohio State Lands Big Commitment From 2025 Quarterback Recruit
Ohio State's football program has already secured a verbal commitment for the class of 2025.
On Wednesday, Tavien St. Clair announced his commitment to the Buckeyes when graduating high school in two years. The local recruit recently led Bellefontaine to a state championship game.
"It just means more to be a Buckeye," St. Clair wrote on Twitter. "Buckeye Nation… I'M HOME! 100% Committed."
Via Garrick Hodge of Eleven Warriors, St. Clair explained why he felt ready to commit.
"I took a visit to (OSU) last Thursday, and listening to the coaches tell me I was their number one priority and they wanted me to be a Buckeye, it felt like it meant more to me," St. Clair said. "Being a kid from Ohio, that's what you dream of, being a Buckeye. It's 50 minutes down the road. Family can watch whenever they want ... It just seems like the right fit for me."
St. Clair added that he discussed the decision with his family following last week's visit. He was choosing between Ohio State and Alabama.
Along with tradition and family values, he identified player development as a reason he picked the Buckeyes.
"Ohio State's better than anybody at developing quarterbacks in the past 10 years, 12 years." St. Clair said. "Just seeing where they take quarterbacks at the next level is probably the reason I chose here."
According to Hodge, St. Clair could become the first in-state quarterback since Joe Burrow to sign with Ohio State out of high school. The three-star quarterback is the program's second class-of-2025 recruit after five-star cornerback Jontae Gilbert.
