Ohio State has a new defensive coach.

Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes announced today an addition to their defensive staff - longtime NFL assistant Bill Davis.

Davis' specific role on Ohio State's staff will be determined following the 2016 season, but you have to think he will, in part, help replace the void left by Luke Fickell, who's leaving for Cincinnati. He spent this past season as an "analyst" for the Buckeyes.

Meyer has a special relationship with Davis, as they met while playing football at Cincinnati. He was actually the best man in Urban and Shelley Meyer's wedding.

You can bet Urban and Bill will work well together next year.

Ohio State is currently preparing for its College Football Playoff semifinal contest against Clemson. The Buckeyes and the Tigers are set to kick off at 7 p.m. E.T. on New Year's Eve. The game will be televised on ESPN.
