Oklahoma's football program has released a statement on the future of quarterback Kyler Murray, who was taken with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2018 MLB Draft on Monday night by the Oakland A's.

Murray, despite being a top 10 MLB Draft pick, has no plans to give up on his 2018 college football season. He'll be with the Sooners this fall.

The Oklahoma quarterback told reporters on Monday night that he officially will be playing for OU in 2018 and his new MLB team is OK with it.

This evening, his head coach, Lincoln Riley, confirmed that.

"We're excited to have him here with us for this upcoming football season," Riley said.

The full statement can be seen below:

Murray is expected to receive $4 million-plus for being the No. 9 overall pick in the MLB Draft. He's able to sign with Oakland, play the 2018 college football season and then head to baseball for good in 2019.

Oklahoma, a potential College Football Playoff team, opens its 2018 season on Sept. 1 against FAU.
