Even with 40 bowl games, not every team that reaches bowl eligibility winds up playing a postseason contest.
Toledo learned this harsh lesson today. Despite finishing 6-6, the Rockets were not invited to a fifth-straight bowl game.
Making matters worse, Toledo was the only bowl-eligible team not selected for a bowl.

Under Jason Candle, Toledo has gone 34-19 in four seasons, plus the 2015 Boca Raton Bowl, his first as head coach. Candle is 1-3 in bowl games.
The Rockets have been to eight bowls in the last 10 seasons, but they will be home for the holidays this year.
As for bowl season, it begins on December 20 with a pair of games. Charlotte plays Buffalo in the Bahamas Bowl and Kent State takes on Utah State in the Frisco Bowl.
