Georgia OL, Former 4-Star Recruit Announces Transfer

A former four-star offensive line recruit is leaving Georgia, he announced Tuesday evening.

Patrick Allen, who signed with the Bulldogs in 2015 out of Reistertown (Md.) Franklin, revealed his plans to transfer on Twitter. Allen was a redshirt sophomore at UGA this past year.

Allen's personal Twitter account is private, but the Athens Banner-Herald has a transcript of the tweet.

“After careful consideration and careful talks with my family and my coaches,” Allen wrote, “it’s with pain in my heart that I inform you all and DawgNation that I will be transferring and opening my recruitment from the University of Georgia.”

After redshirting in 2015, Allen appeared in two games in 2016. He appeared poised to have a breakout season last fall, and began the year as the starter at left guard.

However, Allen was replaced at the position and played in only six games for the Bulldogs, who reached the CFP national title game.

Allen was the No. 17 offensive tackle recruit in the 2015 class, according to 247Sports' Composite Rankings.
