The SEC Network analyst really likes the Tigers heading into the fall.
Count Paul Finebaum among those on Auburn's bandwagon heading into the 2017 season.
The Tigers went 8-5 last season, but really struggled at the quarterback position, and that issue could be solved. Former Baylor quarterback Jarrett Stidham, a top recruit, has transferred to Auburn and is believed by some to be the favorite under center.
Finebaum told Birmingham's WJOX-FM that he expects Auburn to contend atop the SEC West.
"I'm always hesitant to start beating the drums, but I have a very, very positive vibe from what people are telling me about Auburn,” Finebaum said, per 247Sports. “They’re not going to sneak up on anybody right now. But I will be shocked if Auburn is not in contention for the SEC West next fall.”
Auburn gets Alabama, the likely preseason favorite in the conference, at home this season in what could potentially (hopefully) be a winner-take-all game.
The Tigers open the season on Sept. 2 against Georgia Southern.
