It was another wild weekend of college football that saw national title contenders Texas A&M and Clemson get stunned by Arkansas and NC State respectively. With the title picture once again shaken up, college football analyst Paul Finebaum has released his new top 4.
Appearing on SportsCenter this morning, Finebaum listed off his new top 4. Naturally, he had SEC powerhouses Alabama and Georgia at the top of the list. Filling up the final two spots are Oregon and Penn State, who boast some of the most impressive wins of the season to date.
However, Finebaum made it clear that he isn't totally sold on the Nittany Lions just yet. He didn't love how they looked against Villanova on Saturday, and feels that they're wins over Wisconsin and Auburn don't feel as impressive anymore.
“They were pedestrian yesterday against Villanova, but I really like what I’ve seen from them so far, although the Wisconsin and Auburn wins have been seriously discounted,” Finebaum said, via Saturday Down South. “They have IU this weekend and Iowa coming up.”
Finebaum also wasn't especially impressed with how Oregon played against winless Arizona last night. He feels that the Ducks are "playing down to their competition" and that it needs to change.
“If you stayed up late into the night or early morning, you were wondering about the Ducks. They did not look very good against a woeful Arizona team who has yet to win. They pulled out the game, and I think that’s what really matters. They are unfortunately playing down to competition. That needs to change.”
There are some huge matchups coming up for all of the aforementioned teams.
Alabama play a surging, undefeated Ole Miss team next weekend, followed by a game against Texas A&M.
Georgia play Arkansas next week in a game that seems much more daunting after the Razorbacks beat the Aggies.
Oregon have a game against Stanford, while Penn State play Indiana.
Will Paul Finebaum maintain this top 4 after next weekend?
