None of Nick Saban’s former assistants have ever beaten their onetime boss. New Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin will get his first shot next season.
Paul Finebaum is on the record predicting that Kiffin will be the first former aide to break the Saban curse. He doubled down on that forecast today.
In an appearance on ESPN’s Get Up! this morning, Finebaum reasserted his belief that Kiffin will one day beat the man who helped resurrect his career.
I firmly believe that … Lane Kiffin is going to be the first Saban disciple to be beat the GOAT."

Kiffin’s Ole Miss team will face Saban and the Crimson Tide on October 3, 2020 in Oxford. All-time Kiffin is 0-1 against Saban, losing to Alabama in 2009 when he was the head coach of Tennessee.
Next season, Saban will square off against four of his former employees. Alabama hosts Kirby Smart and Georgia on September 19 before visiting Kiffin and the Rebels in early October.
On October 24, the Crimson Tide will take on Tennessee and Jeremy Pruitt at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville. Finally, Texas A&M and Jimbo Fisher will travel to Tuscaloosa on November 21.
