Paul Finebaum Thinks Jim McElwain Is In Worse Shape Than Butch Jones
Which SEC coach is more-likely to be fired?
A couple of weeks ago, Butch Jones was the clear answer to the "which SEC coach is most-likely to be fired?" question.
While Jones' status at Tennessee hasn't really improved, another coach's status has significantly worsened.
Jim McElwain appears to be on his way out of Florida.
ESPN's Paul Finebaum said this morning that the Gators' coach is probably in worse shape than Jones.
“Butch Jones may be in better shape right now than Jim McElwain,” Finebaum said during Sunday's SportsCenter appearance, per 247Sports. "You’ve got to go back a couple years to the Will Grier suspension and when he came off suspension, Jim McElwain encouraged him to go out elsewhere. He would be starting right now and helping this team, but that’s really not all of it.
“It’s just some of the quirky, bizarre things he has said and most recently on Monday when he came out and talked about death threats and could not back them up, I’m told the president just threw up his hands and said we have to do something."
ESPN reported on Saturday that Florida was "discussing" if it could fire McElwain "with cause" due to his death threat comments.
McElwain alleged that his family had received death threats, but refused to divulge any more details during meetings with the school.
