Did the College Football Playoff selection committee get it right?
With Ohio State losing in a blowout to Clemson, and Alabama handling Washington with some ease, many are now questioning if the College Football Playoff selection committee ended up taking the four best teams.
This comes after Penn State (one of the first teams out) and USC (a top 10 team) played an incredible Rose Bowl. The Nittany Lions beat Ohio State in the regular season and the Trojans beat the Huskies.
ESPN college football analyst Todd Blackledge said following the Rose Bowl that he thinks both teams were better than the two playoff teams.
There are some flaws to this logic, of course. Is Pittsburgh better than Clemson and Penn State? Because the Panthers won those head-to-head matchups. Are Stanford and Utah better than USC? Because the Trojans lost those head-to-head matchups.
