People Are Upset With Golf Digest For Putting Paige Spiranac On Its Cover

The cover of the May issue of Golf Digest is apparently upsetting a number of golf fans.

Paige Spiranac, a former collegiate golfer who played at San Diego State but was never ranked as one of the best in her sport, is gracing the cover in what's supposed to resemble futuristic golf attire. Spiranac's fame, as we've noted, is more about her provocative social media accounts than her play on the course.

LPGA Hall of Fame player Juli Inkster voiced her concern earlier this week, suggesting that Lydia Ko, an up-and-coming player, should be on the cover instead. Via golfchannel.com:

“You look at what Lydia Ko’s doing, and why isn’t she on the cover?” Inkster said. “I know that stuff sells, and they are in the business of selling magazines, but I think people could learn more in an article about Lydia,” Inkster said. “It’s kind of where our society is right now. I don’t agree with it, but it’s their magazine and they can do what they want.”

Spiranac and Ko actually went back-and-forth regarding the issue on Twitter.

Spiranac currently has near 700,000 followers on Instagram. Fair or not, she certainly seems to have peoples' attention.
