Photo: Tennessee Fans Annoyed With Nike After Company Releases New Shirt With Incorrect Tristar Logo

Tradition is extremely important to college football fans, even if it comes in the form of minutiae that those outside of a given fan base may not understand. That was very evident with the release of a new Tennessee Volunteers shirt from Nike, which features a lot of cool detail and imagery that should make UT fans very excited. Unfortunately, the shirt also contains a fairly significant gaffe. The 'tristar' logo, derived from Tennessee's state flag, has the three stars arranged in the incorrect pattern.

None of the three stars in the actual logo are perfectly aligned, with the top left star being a bit higher than the one to its right. The three stars on the flag represent the state's three "Grand Divisions," East Tennessee, Middle Tennessee, and West Tennessee.

As you can imagine, many Vols fans are not thrilled with Nike today.

The gaffe is especially unfortunate because, at least in our opinion, this is a pretty cool shirt otherwise. It shouldn't be too tough for Nike to fix the design, though.
