Report: Body Of Former Indiana WR James Hardy Found In River

The body the police found is reportedly the former Hoosiers' star wide receiver.

Former star Indiana wide receiver James Hardy III has reportedly passed away.

The Allen County Coroner's Office has reportedly identified a body found in the river on Wednesday as Hardy.

He was only 31.

Hardy, a Fort Wayne, Ind. native, starred for the Hoosiers from 2004-07.

From NBC's report:

According to police, a water plant worker noticed a foul smell coming from the North side of the Hosey dam and after further inspection, he discovered a body trapped in the log jam.

It appears the body has been in the water for quite some time.

The Coroner's Office is still investigating the cause and maner of death.

Hardy was a first-team All-Big Ten performer at Indiana and also played for the Hoosiers' basketball team for two years. He was a second-round pick by the Buffalo Bills in the 2008 NFL Draft. Hardy played in the league for four seasons.
