Report: Indiana Hiring James Madison Head Coach Curt Cignetti
Curt Cignetti has been one of the most successful coaches in the country in recent years, and it appears that his hard work has paid off with a job offer from a school in a major conference.
According to ESPN's Pete Thamel, Cignetti is finalizing a deal to become the next head coach of the Indiana Hoosiers.
The news comes one day after reports surfaced that Cignetti was a "top target" by the Hoosiers due to his success and experience.
Cignetti will leave James Madison after leading them to an 11-1 record and a national ranking this season.
The Dukes are only in their second year at the FBS level, making Cignetti's season even more impressive.
The Dukes normally would not be able to participate in a bowl game, due to their status as a recent addition to the FBS, but a shortage of bowl-eligible teams means that they will receive an invite. It will be the first bowl game in James Madison history.
Indiana is looking to bounce back from a 3-9 campaign, and they fired Tom Allen last week after his seventh season.
The Hoosiers have not made a bowl game since the 2020 season, and they haven't won a bowl game since the 1991 season.
