Former NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel was hospitalized in Texas on Monday night according to a new report from TMZ. The 25-year-old Manziel has been attempting a football comeback this spring, working out for NFL teams and playing in the new Spring League.
Over the last few months, Manziel has also been upfront about his failure as an NFL quarterback. He's also opened up regarding his battle with bipolar disorder and past substance abuse issues.
The medication he takes for his bipolar disorder could have been what caused this situation. That's at least what his camp is claiming.
According to the report from TMZ, Manziel was hospitalized with what his rep is calling a reaction to prescription medication. From her statement, it seems like he has already been released.
Sources connected to the QB tell us ... he was admitted to a hospital in Humble, TX on Monday. He had been in the area to attend the JMBLYA concert with friends after playing in a golf tournament hosted by friend and former Texas A&M teammate Mike Evans.
Manziel's rep, Denise Michaels, tells us ... "It seems like he had a reaction to an adjustment in his prescription. He’s fine and headed home."
It doesn't sound like this situation is too serious. If Manziel is already out of the hospital, it doesn't appear he was in great danger.
It wouldn't surprise us to see Manziel give some more insight into what happened here. He has been pretty transparent recently.
We'll update you on Manziel as more details come in.
