Report: There Is 'Mounting Evidence' Against Michigan
The Big Ten announced on Thursday that Michigan decided to accept Jim Harbaugh's suspension by the conference, keeping him off the sideline for the final two games of the regular season.
The conference considers its inquiry into the program closed following the decision, but one college football insider says that the worst could still be yet to come for the Wolverines.
According to ESPN's Heather Dinich, there is still "mounting evidence" against Michigan in relation to the sign-stealing scandal.
“This story is far from over,” she said on Friday morning's edition of Get Up.
“My understanding is that there’s mounting evidence against Michigan, and the Big Ten all along had evidence in regards to Michigan breaking the rule."
Dinich says that the Big Ten and Michigan continue to say that Harbaugh was not an orchestrator in the sign-stealing, but that the matter of other staff members and their knowledge of the scheme is still being looked into.
Michigan's decision to accept the suspension is a surprising one, as Harbaugh and the team attempted to file a temporary restraining order before last weekend's game at Penn State.
Many felt that Harbaugh would attempt to fight the suspension in order to be on the sideline for this week's game against Maryland and then next week against Ohio State, but the program now seems to be content to let Harbaugh return in the postseason.
"This story is ongoing and I think that it’s important that people stay tuned to it, because it’s certainly not over," Dinich said.
