Iowa struggled last week against Michigan, and Saturday, the Hawkeyes face another tough task. Iowa takes on Penn State in a game that could go a long way in determining the Big Ten title race.
Ahead of the game, Iowa brought in one of its former stars for a little motivation. Ricky Stanzi, who played for the Hawkeyes from 2006-2011, delivered a passionate speech to the players.
Stanzi was a fifth-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. He lasted in the league until 2015.
Iow released video showing part of Stanzi’s speech. Here’s what he had to say:
“So we compete, we cooperate. We compete, we cooperate. We do this over and over and over again. And then when Saturday is here, well what is that? It’s time to hunt. It’s time to go out and eat. Go feed the tribe.
Last week you went to hunt, you didn’t get to eat. You should be a little unsettled. You should be hungry. You should be pissed off. You should be a little bit annoyed.
Adversity has hit. Adversity has hit. Adversity hits, you can back away, you can look out the window and point and try to find somebody to blame it on. Or you can get up, you can pick up that spear, sharpen that tip, work on the skills and get your ass back out there and hunt again. Now this looks like a crew that’s ready to hunt.”
