Ryan Day Suffers Huge Recruiting Loss Days After Losing To Michigan
Ryan Day's miserable week continues.
The Ohio State Buckeyes head coach lost to Michigan for the third straight time on Saturday. Michigan topped Ohio State, 30-24, on Saturday afternoon at The Big House.
Now, the Buckeyes have suffered a crushing blow on the recruiting trail.
Ohio State five-star recruit Justin Scott has flipped his commitment. The now-ex Buckeyes five-star prospect has committed to The U.
“Miami never went away,” Scott told On3. “Even after I committed to Ohio State, Miami stayed in the back of my mind. I started talking to the Miami coaches again a couple of weeks ago, and after having a talk with my mom, I made the decision to flip to Miami. I have known for about a week. Once I had that talk with my mom to let her know how I felt and found out she was OK with my decision, then I knew.”
This is a crushing blow for an Ohio State program that didn't need any more bad news this week.
Ohio State still has one of the best classes in the country. The Buckeyes rank No. 2 in the country, per 247Sports' team rankings.
Still, the pressure is mounting on Day.
Kirk Herbstreit admitted Day has a big "problem."
“I think two things can be true here,” Herbstreit said on Pardon My Take. “I think No. 1, I personally wouldn’t even consider talking about firing Ryan Day. No. 2, he definitely has a Michigan problem. Both of those things can be true. This game is cyclical, the pressure, the way teams get in the other team’s head. Ohio State lived in Michigan’s head with Tressel and Urban Meyer. Jim Harbaugh, to his credit, at one point they were ready to fire him, and now he’s completely turned this thing around.”
The latest recruiting loss certainly won't help matters for Day moving forward.
