Sav'ell Smalls is one of the top linebackers in the class of 2020.

With most of the 2018 recruiting class signed away, attention largely turns to the class of 2019, and we're starting to get to know some of the stars of the class of 2020 as well. One of the players getting a ton of early attention is Seattle native Sav'ell Smalls.

Smalls has not been rated by all of the services yet, but 247 has him as a four star. The site also ranks him No. 15 overall in the class of 2020.

He is the second-ranked outside linebacker in the country, and the Garfield High School star is the top player in the state of Washington.

247Sports caught up with Smalls after National Signing Day, where he watched teammate Tre'Shaun Harrison sign with Florida State. Harrison had been committed to Willie Taggart at Oregon, and decided to follow him all the way across the country to Tallahassee.

Florida State is among the power programs after Smalls now.

"Florida State, obviously, because Tre will be here before he graduates and he’ll be going hard on that," said Smalls. "I've talked to the staff there and they like both of us. Obviously, they liked Tre a lot. But I think Florida State will be a big one the next couple years."

He also listed Alabama, Stanford, USC, and Washington as the schools paying the most attention to him so far.

"Alabama, obviously, they stand out because they're always winning," said Smalls. "They're the champs for a reason."

"Washington, they're always showing love," said Smalls. "Stanford, the academics and the coaches. USC, the legacy they have.

He also lists Clemson, Georgia, and LSU as schools picking up interest, and Tennessee and UCLA as schools that he may take unofficial visits to soon. Overall, Smalls already has 12 offers, most from power conference programs.

Only one recruiting expert—247 director of recruiting Steve Wiltfong—has logged a prediction for Smalls early on. He thinks that Smalls will be a USC Trojan.
