Sports Illustrated released its college football preview edition on Tuesday, complete with a set of preseason top 25 rankings. One ESPN analyst – Peter Burns of the SEC Network – isn’t impressed by what he sees.
The publication’s top 10, in order: Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Oklahoma, Texas, Ohio State, Notre Dame, LSU, Oregon and Florida.
Burns took to Twitter to joke about the list. He thinks it’s funny that both Texas and Notre Dame are ranked above LSU.
Burns will likely get called out for a being a homer here, but it remains to be seen if he’s right. LSU plays Texas early in the season.
Texas and Notre Dame ranked above LSU is the laugh that I needed to get me through the day.
Thanks for this SI. https://t.co/VyGYabl7cS

SI’s ranking of Texas at No. 5 is a little higher than most other polls – but not a ton. Notre Dame reached the College Football Playoff a year ago, so a No. 7 ranking isn’t outlandish either.
LSU’s biggest issue, at least from a national title standpoint, is that is has to go through Alabama (and potentially Georgia) if it wants to come out of the SEC.
College football season kicks off on August 24 when Florida takes on Miami.
