Several Big-Time Schools Are Interested In This German Football Recruit

Many big-time programs are expressing interest in this rising prospect.

Julius Welschof, a football recruit out of Germany, is quickly becoming one of the most-heavily pursued prospects in the country.

On Monday, Rutgers became the first Power 5 program to offer him a scholarship, and according to 247Sports, several big-time Big 10 programs are seriously interested in him.

"Penn State, Ohio State and Michigan have all expressed serious interest and Welschof is now planning on extending his trip to possibly hit a Southeast school or two. The race is on not only for the coaching staffs at some interested schools, but also for the admissions offices and support staffs to wade through the process of bringing in an international student. If staffs can find some clarity to those questions, expect more major offers to follow," 247Sports reports.

247Sports' recruiting expert Barton Simmons says he would rate Welschof, a 6-foot-6, 250-pound defensive end/tight end, as a four-star recruit in the 2018 class. It's possible he ends up playing as a member of the 2017 class, though.

So there's a chance you could see him on a field this fall.
