The son of a former star NFL quarterback will be playing for a new college football program during the 2018 season. He's announced his transfer.

Jeff George Jr., the son of former NFL quarterback Jeff George, is transferring from one Big Ten program to another. The quarterback has announced he's moving from Illinois to Michigan.

The quarterback, who will be a graduate transfer, announced the news on Twitter.

"Go Blue!!!" he wrote.

George is not expected to be a serious contributor to Michigan's 2018 team. The Wolverines already have some elite talent at the top of the depth chart in Shea Patterson.

Still, George provides some depth.

His father was the No. 1 overall pick in the 1990 NFL Draft. He played from 1990-2006 and led the NFL in passing in 1997.

Michigan opens its 2018 season on Saturday, Sept. 1 against Notre Dame.
