Report: South Florida Expected To Hire Charlie Strong
Charlie Strong is close to a new head coaching job, according to a report.
South Florida is expected to name former Texas head coach Charlie Strong its new head coach, according to a report by Sports Illustrated.
Pete Thamel of SI reports that the two sides are "closing in" on a five-year deal.
Strong, 56, was fired by Texas at the end of the 2016 regular season following a three-year stint in Austin, Texas. He was previously the head coach at Louisville.
There are good ties in the state of Florida for Strong, as he was initially a graduate assistant at Florida and had multiple stints with the Gators before becoming the defensive coordinator from 2003-09.
An official announcement on Strong's hire could come later today.
