The 2019 College Football Playoff offered some of the most thrilling QB play we've ever seen. Joe Burrow, Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields and Jalen Hurts all showed that they're elite talents who can thrive at the next level. But what does the field look like heading into the 2020 College Football Playoff?
According to BetOnline via Odds Shark, three teams were given better than 1-to-1 odds of making the 2020 College Football Playoff. Clemson got the best odds at minus-200, followed by Ohio State at minus-150 and Alabama at minus-125. The team with the best odds of getting the fourth and final spot was Oklahoma at +125.
Just missing the cut were a pair of SEC giants - SEC East powerhouse Georgia at +150 and reigning national champion LSU at +200. The best odds for a Pac-12 team went to Oregon at +500, while independent Notre Dame came in seventh at +275.
Unsurprisingly, no Group of Five team even made the top-20.
But the top four teams on the list should be no surprise at all. Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State and Oklahoma are the only teams to make multiple appearances in the College Football Playoff. All of them except Alabama made it to the tournament in 2019.
Clemson and Ohio State make the most sense since they're both bringing back their star QBs. Alabama and Oklahoma could be a little more up in the air with Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts needing replacements.
