Stanford vs. Cal preview:
Stanford's up and down season has seen a few more ups lately than downs. The Cardinal enters this game on a three-game win streak and has a solid chance at finishing the season 9-3. After Stanford's first five games, the Cardinal sat at 3-2 with no idea who they were as a football team. Those two losses came from Washington and Washington State in which the Cardinal was outscored 86-22. Now Stanford is looking for a spot in a solid bowl game.
Cal has had a very interesting season. The Bears started the season with a win, then lost, then won, then lost, then won, then lost, then won for a fourth time. Then the Bears broke the streak of winning one game and losing another. And the streak did not break for the better. Instead, the Bears enter this game on a three-game skid in which they have lost each of the three by at least 21 points.
The Cardinal and Bears have played 109 times in history, with the Cardinal holding a 56-43-10 advantage.
Stanford vs. Cal prediction:
Stanford is the deeper team. Stanford is the better team.
All signs point to a Stanford win. And that is exactly what will happen. The Bears have one of the worst rushing defenses in college football. What does the Cardinal do very well? Run the football.
