Notre Dame, still independent, is seemingly two victories away from qualifying for its first College Football Playoff. ESPN's Stephen A. Smith thinks the Fighting Irish could be in for a rude awakening on Saturday however.
Smith, who spoke to Syracuse's football team before the season started, is picking the Orange to prevail at Yankee Stadium. Smith delivered the prediction on his radio show.
Smith went on quite a rant about Syracuse's motivation for the contest. Here's what he had to say:
"On national television tomorrow afternoon at Yankee Stadium, the Syracuse Orange will stand up. They will rise to the challenge. They will answer the call. They understand what's at stake. They're 8-2. They're destined for a bowl game. But damnit it's not enough. It's not enough.
This is what you've been waiting for all your life. This is it right here. This moment. Moe Neal you hear me. Dungey you hear me. Slayton you hear me. This is what it's all about. You waited for this."
Notre Dame and Syracuse will square off at 2:3o PM ET. It's a big one.
