After an incredible weekend of bowl games, all that remains of the 2020 college football season is the national title game between Alabama and Ohio State. But before we crown a national champion, Stewart Mandel of The Athletic wants to squeeze in one more top 10.
Taking to Twitter this morning, Mandel decided to take a crack at giving his vote for the top 10. He noted how difficult it’s likely going to be for voters picking numbers three through six.
In the top two are the usual suspects: Alabama at No. 1 and Ohio State at No. 2. But he immediately made it interesting with his No. 3 pick.
Stewart Mandel placed Oklahoma at No. 3, citing their strong finish after losing twice. He also noted that Oklahoma is tied with Alabama for the most wins over top 25 teams with four.
Here is Stewart Mandel’s full top 10 ranking:
- Ohio State
- Notre Dame
- Texas A&M
- Iowa State
The people who actually vote in the Top 25 are going to have a mess on their hands trying to order Nos. 3-6. I took a stab myself.
Worth noting: Oklahoma wound up tied with Alabama for most Top 25 wins (four). pic.twitter.com/byTProFaMQ

Stewart Mandel was clearly quite generous with Cincinnati, ranking the Group of Five powerhouse No. 8 despite their heartbreaking loss to Georgia.
Notre Dame also saw a rather generous ranking despite being blown out of their final two games of the season.
Iowa State and Northwestern certainly deserve a lot of love for how they handled their New Year’s Six bowls, wins over Oregon and Auburn respectively.
What do you make of the top 10 list Stewart Mandel made?
