Auburn vs. Oklahoma preview:

Auburn enters this contest with an 8-4 record and dreams of what could have been. The Tigers opened their season with a 19-13 loss to Clemson, and lost a head-scratcher to Georgia late in the season. Had Auburn won those two games, the Tigers could have had eyes on the College Football Playoff. As it stands, they get a spot in the Sugar Bowl instead. Not a bad consolation prize.

Oklahoma enters this matchup as one of the hottest teams in college football. After opening the season with two losses in their first three games, the Sooners rattled off nine straight wins to end the season at 10-2. Oklahoma won the Big 12 with a perfect 9-0 record but didn't do enough to secure a spot in the playoff.

The Tigers and Sooners have played one time in history, with the Sooners winning the only game between the two schools...back in 1972.

Auburn vs. Oklahoma prediction:

Oklahoma fields two Heisman Trophy finalists in quarterback Baker Mayfield and Dede Westbrook. Both have been electric all season and will need to be in the Sugar Bowl if the Sooners want to win.

Auburn's rushing attack has been its biggest weapon all season, and injuries its biggest foe. With a one-month hiatus until the game, the Tigers will finally be healthy.

This one will be exciting, but the Sooners have too many weapons on offense for Auburn to handle.
