Talanoa Hufanga, the No. 1 player in the state of Oregon, plans to visit his home-state Ducks, as well as Nebraska.
The four-star athlete spoke to Scout about his recruitment, and those two programs are the ones that he mentioned taking visits to, among the 20 offers he’s received thus far. Hufanga, a Corvallis native, has already been to nearby Oregon State.
“I’m planning on visiting Oregon and Nebraska, but I may take another visit somewhere else, I just have to discuss it with my family,” said Hufanga.
While those three schools may stand out for now, Hufanga maintains that his recruitment is totally wide open. Back in March, he said that his new offer from Michigan was ‘mind-blowing,’ but the Wolverines are just one of many teams that he hears from on a regular basis.
“I talk a lot with a few coaches from Nebraska, USC, UCLA, Oregon, Oregon State, Tennessee, Michigan, Notre Dame and California,” said Hufanga.
And a few other schools that haven’t offered are talking to Hufanga and could join that list.
“I’m hearing from LSU, Vanderbilt, Alabama, Mississippi and Virginia,” said Hufanga.
He does say that USC was his favorite program growing up, but it doesn’t sound like the Trojans maintain a huge edge over any of the other teams involved in this recruitment at the moment.
According to 247Sports, Hufanga is the No. 3 athlete in the nation, and the No. 106 overall recruit in the class of 2018.
