"Word of advice," started Tate Martell's not-so-subtle message for then-Georgia quarterback Justin Fields as the former five-star recruit was considering a transfer to his Ohio State.

"Don't swing and miss...especially not your second time."

Fields, the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback in the 2018 class, was unable to beat out Jake Fromm for the starting quarterback job at Georgia. So, he was considering a transfer to Ohio State, where Martell - yet to start - was hoping to take over for Dwayne Haskins.

Ultimately, Fields paid no attention to Martell's advice, transferring to Ohio State in the wake of Urban Meyer's retirement. Martell transferred out, committing to Miami, where he was ruled immediately eligible.

While Fields has yet to be named Ohio State's Week 1 starter, he's widely expected to land the job. Martell, however, has become the quarterback to "swing and miss" twice.

Miami announced this morning that redshirt freshman Jarren Williams will start against Florida on Aug. 24. Martell will begin his Hurricanes career on the bench.

His old tweet to Fields is now going viral.

Martell is only a sophomore, so he still has plenty of time to win a starting quarterback job, though it might not happen at Miami.

Miami and Florida are set to kick off at 7 p.m. E.T. on Aug. 24. The game will be on ESPN.
