Ohio State’s young quarterback is ready for his opportunity.
Ohio State will be home to one of the country’s most-intriguing quarterback competitions in 2018.
The Buckeyes are used to this, recently having one between J.T. Barrett, Cardale Jones and Braxton Miller, and this time around, it’ll feature Dwayne Haskins, Joe Burrow and Tate Martell.
Haskins, the 2017 backup, is probably the favorite, but don’t count out Martell, the top 2017 recruit.
Martell tweeted out a message for 2018 a couple of days ago. It’s “grind time.”
Martell, the No. 2 dual-threat quarterback in the 2017 class, was very impressive working with the scout team this past season, according to Ohio State’s coaches. The Buckeyes admitted that they considered taking his redshirt off when Barrett was dealing with an injury, but thought better of it. He’ll surely be right in the thick of Ohio State’s starting QB competition this offseason and preseason.
