One of the top mascots in college football isn't being allowed to attend its team's game this weekend.

Texas' iconic live mascot, BEVO XV, announced on Twitter this afternoon that it's unable to attend Friday's game against Kansas.

The Jayhawks unfortunately have a no live mascot policy.

This will be just the second time in 73 years that BEVO isn't on the field for a Thanksgiving Weekend game.

"Due to the Kansas Jayhawks no live mascot policy, BEVO will not make the trip to the game on Friday. It will be only the 2nd time in 73 years for BEVO to miss the Thanksgiving week game," BEVO announced.

This is very unfortunate.

Texas and Kansas are set to kick off at noon on Friday. The game will be on FS1.
