The 5 Highest-Paid Coaches In College Football In 2017

Are they worth the money?

On Friday, Penn State agreed on a contract extension for head coach James Franklin. The new six-year deal will pay Franklin an average of $5.8 million per year.

However, he still doesn't crack the top five list of highest paid coaches. That's because his contract is backloaded, and will pay him over $7 million in his final season.

So, who are the highest paid coaches for the upcoming college football season?

1) Nick Saban - Alabama

Thanks to a signing bonus, Saban will be paid just over $11 million this season, easily the most in the country.

2) Jim Harbaugh - Michigan

Harbaugh will make just over $9 million in his third season with the Wolverines.

3) Urban Meyer - Ohio State

Meyer will haul in just over $6 million this season.

4) Jimbo Fisher - Florida State

Fisher is slated to make $5.25 million this season, with room for incentives. Bob Stoops occupied the fourth spot last year, but after his stunning retirement, Fisher moves up on the list.

5) Tom Herman - Texas

Herman will make $5.25 million in his first season as the head coach of the Longhorns.

There you have it, the five highest paid coaches in the game today.
