The 64 Most Annoying People In Sports Media: Round Of 32
After two days and almost 500,000 votes, we're moving onto the second round of our 64 Most Annoying People In Sports Media bracket. We've learned a few things along the way.
- We seriously underseeded Jim Rome, who took down 1-seed Clay Travis in a tight battle. Who knew?
- Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless are going to be really, really hard to beat.
- Jemele Hill is a sleeper to come out of Darren Rovell's region.
- Colin Cowherd vs. Deadspin is going to be fantastic.
- The biggest snub, according to the thousands of tweets/emails we got, was Dan Dakich.
Voting is now closed on the first round of the tournament. You can view the results here. Let's vote on the second round:
The 64 Most Annoying People In Sports Media: Round Of 32
Vote On The Left Side Of The Bracket Below
Stephen A. Smith Region:
1. Stephen A. Smith vs. 8. Mel Kiper Jr.
Smith took down Collinsworth, 89%-11%. Kiper knocked off Kornheiser, 69%-31%. This matchup is Frank Caliendo's dream.
2. Mark May vs. 10. Peter King
May crushed Bradshaw, 76%-24%. King pulled an upset on Tim Tebow, 57%-43%. We doubt he pulls another.
6. Dan LeBatard vs. 14. Joe Buck
LeBatard had no trouble with Katie Nolan, 76%-24%. Buck scored a surprising victory over Walton, 57%-43%. LeBatard, we've been told however, is a strong 6-seed.
4. Mike Lupica vs. 5. Curt Schilling
Lupica took down Gus Johnson with ease, 77%-23%. Schilling held off Danny Kanell, 57%-43%. This is probably the best matchup in the bracket.
Darren Rovell Region:
1. Darren Rovell vs. 9. Jay Mariotti
Rovell dominated Lundquist, 81%-19%. Mariotti still apparently has gas left in the tank, as he took down Simms, 58%-42%. This matchup is almost diabolical.
2. Chris Berman vs. 7. Seth Davis
Berman handled Matt Jones, 64%-36%. Davis sharpied Pollack, 57%-43%. Another tough one.
3. Chris Broussard vs. 11. Jemele Hill
Broussard beat us, thankfully, 77%-23%. We might have seeded Hill a bit low after watching her destroy Schefter, 74%-26%. She could make a run.
4. Bomani Jones vs. 5. Bill Simmons
Bo and his Twitter trolls scored a 60%-40% win over Wilbon. Simmons survived Jon Rothstein 56%-44%, but it doesn't look like he's long for this tournament.
