Each and every college football season there is a team that shocks the nation with how improved they are from one year to the next.
Most of that attention has gone to No. 9 BYU, which stomped No. 24 Boise State on Friday night. The Cougars have a potential first-round pick at quarterback in Zach Wilson.
However, while many eyes are on BYU, there is another team shocking the college football world. Head coach Hugh Freeze led the Liberty Flames to an 8-5 record in his first season. After ending the 2019 season on a high note, Liberty is off to an even better start this season.
Liberty sits as the No. 25 team in the country with an undefeated 6-0 record. The Flames kept that success rolling on Saturday afternoon against Virginia Tech, taking a 14-3 lead.
That led college football fans to start clamoring for Freeze to land a bigger job. From Mississippi State to Michigan, fans want to see Freeze back at another major program.
Here’s some of the reaction.

What a world that would be. South Carolina probably makes more sense.

Freeze proved to be one of college football’s best coaches when he led Ole Miss to success in the SEC.
Scandal eventually followed that success, but after four years away from Ole Miss, Freeze could be ready for another major job.
The former Rebels head coach may have his pick of jobs that will come available after the season.
