This Herm Edwards Quote About National Signing Day Is Going Viral

Herm Edwards answers questions from Arizona State press.

Check out this hilarious quote about National Signing Day from Herm Edwards.

Many of college football's big head coaching hires are having great success on the recruiting trail. Scott Frost is compiling a top 25 class at Nebraska. Jimbo Fisher is on pace for a top-five haul for 2019. Willie Taggart is fired up about what he's bringing in at Florida State.

And then there's Herm Edwards. His inaugural class at Arizona State isn't anything to brag about, unfortunately.

The Sun Devils currently have the No. 78 class in the country. It's dead last in the Pac-12.

ASU has signed 13 players, none of which are higher than three-star prospects. The Sun Devils have one commit who's yet to sign - another three-star.

The Edwards' hire was questioned by nearly everyone in the college football world. It seems fun on the surface, but does the former NFL coach turned ESPN analyst really have what it takes to recruit at an elite (or even competent) level?

So far, he hasn't proved to. He had this quote about National Signing Day that has Arizona State fans going crazy.

"Signing Day is a little bit unusual for me, because in pro football, you get to draft them. In college, they get to pick you!" Edwards said on ESPN2.

Oh man. That's not what a fan base wants to hear, especially when you've got the worst recruiting class in your conference.

Obviously, it's early, so maybe Edwards will prove everyone wrong. But right now, this just has the feel of disaster.
