After the loss to Penn State, Buckeye fans might be worried about their College Football Playoff hopes. They shouldn't be.
With a loss to Penn State it looked as though Ohio State's dreams of being in the College Football Playoff might be in jeopardy. The hopes of another national title appeared to slip through the Buckeyes' fingertips as the Nittany Lions pulled off a huge upset.
Not so fast!
Ohio State's chances at a national title are alive and well. Why? Because Urban Meyer has never won a national championship with an undefeated team. Meyer has three national championships under his belt. And all of them came with one loss on the season.
The 2006 Florida Gators lost to Auburn in the middle of the season before going on to beat, ironically, Ohio State for the BCS National Championship. The 2008 Florida Gators lost to Ole Miss early in the season before beating Oklahoma for the BCS National Championship. The 2014 Ohio State Buckeyes lost to Virginia Tech in the second week of the season before beating Oregon for the College Football Playoff National Championship.
So, for Buckeye fans worrying about their chances at another national championship, don't. The biggest game of the season for Ohio State comes in its last regular season game against Michigan. If the Buckeyes win that game, they have a great shot at making the College Football Playoff.
