Here’s who the ESPN NFL Draft guru would pick to lead his college football team.
If you were drafting a college football team from scratch, which quarterback would you take to lead your squad?
Maybe the reigning Heisman Trophy winner in Louisville’s Lamar Jackson. Or the potential No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft in USC’s Sam Darnold.
Todd McShay would pick someone else.
The ESPN NFL Draft guru would go with Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield.
This is a tough call, but I’m going with Mayfield. No quarterback in college football is as mobile as Lamar Jackson, but Mayfield uses his legs well. He has the ability to extend plays and his passing skills are far superior to Jackson’s right now. With 13 TDs to zero INTs this season, he’s a guy I want leading my offense. He has already shown the ability to win in a hostile environment, as he did in Week 2 against Ohio State.
Mayfield has been one of the best players in the country this season, totaling 1,329 passing yards and 13 touchdowns with no interceptions.
Oklahoma is set to host Iowa State on Saturday.
