A former top recruit of the Alabama Crimson Tide is reportedly expected to miss the full 2019 season.
According to multiple reports from Alabama beat writers, star running back Trey Sanders will miss the season with a foot injury.
Sanders had been a star in camp for the Crimson Tide and received the praises of head coach Nick Saban. However, Alabama fans will have to wait at least another season to witness what he can do on the football field.
Alabama insider Matt Zenitz revealed Sanders suffered the injury on the final play of the team’s practice on Thursday.
He was held out of Friday’s practice, which led to questions about his health.
Here’s the news from Zenitz.

It’s a tough break for the former five-star running back. Sanders was the top running back recruit in the 2019 class and the No. 6 player overall.
Earlier this week, Saban raved about the freshman running back.
“Trey Sanders is doing really, really well in camp. His work ethic is really good. He’s learning every day. His attention to detail seems to be pretty good. He’s got some ability I think may be able to contribute to the team.”
Alabama opens the season against Duke on August 31.
