Turf Guy Is The Breakout Star Of College Football’s Championship Saturday

Turf guy saves the day during Big Ten championship.

He's the real MVP.

In one of the most bizarre scenes we've ever encountered watching football, the turf at Lucas Oil Stadium opened up like the Red Sea.

Ohio State held pat on its own goal line while Wisconsin attempted to cut into the Buckeyes' lead. The Badgers raced in for a touchdown but not before an Ohio State player's leg wedged under the turf and exposed the velcro holding Ohio State's endzone together.

A groundskeeper raced in to make sure the playing surface was safe for the players before they could return to play.

He quickly became the story of the night.

Although he has a name, no one on Twitter called him "Eric." The Twitterverse exploded with mentions of "Turf Guy," which seems apt considering he literally has a degree in turf grass management, according to Rovell.

Ohio State leads Wisconsin 27-21 with three minutes remaining in the contest.
