Trevor Lawrence outperformed Tua Tagovailoa in the national championship game, leading Clemson to the title. The current Heisman Trophy odds suggest Lawrence could do the same in the race for college football’s most prestigious awards.
The latest 2019 Heisman Trophy odds are out, according to BetOnline. Lawrence, heading into his sophomore year at Clemson, tops the list at 7-2.
The strong-armed signal caller is followed by Tagovailoa at 5-1. Tua’s former teammate, Jalen Hurts, now has the third-best Heisman odds (13-2) after moving on to Oklahoma.
Clemson running back Travis Etienne, Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm and former Georgia quarterback and current Ohio State Buckeye Justin Fields are next in line at 12-1.

If recent history tells us anything, a quarterback will win the award in 2019. Eleven of the last 13 winners have played the position.
Tagovailoa and Lawrence are expected to be the top two quarterbacks in college football next year, so it makes sense they are the top two choices here.
If Lawrence wins, he’ll be the first Heisman Trophy winner from Clemson. Tagovailoa would join Mark Ingram and Derrick Henry as ‘Bama players to take home the honor.
